Our Galveston Fishing Charters experienced some nice catches the past week. Red fish, speckled trout, and Bay Snapper have been on the top of the hit list. The extremely high westerly winds we experienced two weeks ago had our water levels in Galveston Bay as low as I have ever seen them. West winds, followed with high pressure days kept the tide astoundingly low for over a week. Tides are finally beginning to come back to normal winter levels, and fishing is good in the bays of Galveston and the Galveston Jetties.
Our Galveston Fishing Guides have been doing very well fishing along the Galveston Jetties, particularly the north jetty. Nice catches of Bay Snapper and redfish were caught this week with a few speckled trout mixed in. Stiff winds kept many of the charters limited to fishing protected areas, but these areas had some nice fish on them. Limits or near limits of Bay Snapper, red fish with some speckled trout to top of the boxes have been the norm along the jetties.
There have been a few trips this week that winds kept us from running to the open waters of the Galveston Jetties. Taking refuge in the back lakes and bayous is paying off with nice catches of redfish, speckled trout, flounder and Bay Snapper. The low tides we had this past week helped many of these areas that needed to be ‘flushed’ and we are seeing fish in areas that have been dead for a couple years… they are now rejuvenated.
Spring Break is around the corner, and we are very excited to share the amazing spring time fishing with families that come to Galveston Island for the vacation destination. No matter your experience level, adults and kids of all ages have a great time Spring Break Fishing in Galveston, Texas.
We are preparing for the 42nd Annual Houston Fishing Show happening March 8 thru 12 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. This will be a great opportunity to come out and meet some of our Galveston Fishing Guides and take advantage of some Blow Out Fishing Charter Package Specials we are putting together.
