Galveston Fishing Report – Flounder Run, Red Fish, & Specks

Galveston Fishing Report

Galveston Bay Fishing

One thing about Texas Weather is certain….. It certainly is unpredictable.  As I sit and write this report, Galveston Bay water temperatures are still in the low 80’s during the day, and upper 70s during night hours.  Already into November, and it seems Summer just wont give way to Fall.  What does this mean for Galveston Fishing……  The Best is Yet To Come! Ther Famous Flounder Run has not even reached its mid point.  Bull Reds are still being caught along the Galveston Jetties and Passes, Speckled trout are still way up in the marshes and back lakes, slot reds are in the marshes and jetties, and mild weather is making fishing in Galveston very good.

Galveston Flounder Fishing

November is one of our favorite months to fish in Galveston Bay, and this year will be more of the same with December being amazing as well.  As day light get shorter, night time will grow longer – water temps will creep down.  With the help of a cool snap which is certain to eventually happen – fishing patterns will be in full fall swing.  This is a great time of year to catch piles of Galveston Flounder.  There are more trophy flounder caught during November and December than the entire other 10 months combined.  As the flounder begin their annual migration for their spawning activities, our Galveston Fishing Guides will target these fish in the ‘funnels’ as we like to call them –  passes that the flounder must go to enter the Gulf.

Red Fish and Speckled trout will also be very plentiful in the back lakes and marshes.  These areas are magical during this time of year if you enjoy beautiful scenery and spectacular wildlife.  As many species of ducks, along with geese and other birds that call our Texas Coast home during the winter months, we will be fishing the back lakes and flats for redfish, flounder and speckled trout.

Galveston Flounder Gigging

November marks the only month that we are not allowed to gig flounder, but it will open back up December 1.  This is by far our most favorite time of year to be on Galveston Bay hunting and Gigging Galveston Flounder.  We still have a few openings left, and if you have never been on a Flounder Gigging Adventure – Give us a call and lets get you out there and hunting!
