Galveston Summer Fishing

Galveston Fishing has been spectacular this month.  Our Galveston Fishing Charters has been running the back bays and marsh, the jetties and beachfront, night time speckled trout trips and even gigging some summer time Galveston flounder.

Our Galveston Jetty and Beachfront trips have been producing good numbers of very nice speckled trout, slot redfish, puppy drum, sheepshead, bull reds, black tip sharks, spinner sharks, Atlantic sharpnose, and some bonnet heads.  Depending on what kind of fish our customers want to target – we are either fishing live shrimp free lined along both sets of jetties or using fresh shad on bottom or under a baloon float for the bigger sharks.

We have ran some “Fun” offshore trips and producing some nice red snapper as well as some very nice cobia.  The mahi mahi are being caught along weedlines as well.  Our permits are on the way, and we will be running Galveston offshore charters very soon.

Our Galveston bay and marsh trips have been producing good numbers of redfish, speckled trout and some flounder mixed in as well.  On these trips we usually use live shrimp fished under a Cajun Thunder popping cork.  Our fish have been coming off of mixed shell on open bay reefs and bayous, as well as targeting secondary drains.  These are great trips if you want a nice calm, relaxing trip.  Seasickness is never a problem on a Galveston Bay & Marsh trip.

Our night time speckled trout trips are producing good numbers of speckled trout.  If you want to beat the heat under the blanket the stars – book a Galveston Night time Fishing Charter for speckled trout.  Some nights are better than others, and the fish feed in a frenzy, but generally speaking we wear the specks out at night.  Our night time trips have been most successful fishing live shrimp either free lined or under a very small popping cork.

Galveston flounder gigging has been somewhat hit and miss with the winds and off tides, but we have gigged some very nice fish this month.  One thing about the flounder gigging – it should only get better.  We have had some good success on our fish-gig combos, producing near limits of speckled trout before the sun goes down and we beging to hunt for the elusive Galveston Flounder.

Summertime is here on Galveston Island.  The fishing is great and will only get better.  From back bay fishing, night time specks, to Galveston Deep Sea trips, or Galveston Flounder Gigging – Give us a call if you want to get out on the water.  We have a trip for you.  Kids and families are our specialty.
