Galveston Summer Fishing 2014 Recap and Fall Look Ahead

Galveston Family Fishing Charters

This summer was another great year for Galveston Fishing.  Unusually mild temperatures, along with some very hungry fish made for a record book year for Galveston Fishing.  This year we had many guests from all over the United States and even Canada that declared Galveston Texas as their vacation destination.  Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, Arizona, New Jersey, Missouri, Oklahoma, California, Colorado and many more came to the Galveston or Houston area and fished with us.

Galveston Offshore Fishing

June somewhat kicked off our ‘Offshore’ season with red snapper on June 1.  Though we were only allowed 9 days to harvest red snapper, it did kick off what would be a great Galveston Offshore fishing season.  Ling to 62 lbs, Kindfish to over 50 lbs, awesome wahoo and mahi…. then came the Tuna.  Yes, it was a great year for Offshore Fishing in Galveston.

Galveston Speckled Trout Guides

Along with the awesome offshore fishing, we were slamming some great speckled trout, to 9.6 lbs, redfish, spanish mackeral, sharks, sheeshead, and even a Tarpon or two along the Galveston Jetties and Beachfront.

Galveston Bay Kid Friendly Fishing

The Galveston Bay and Marsh fishing this summer was also a hit among those that did not want to risk the chance of seasickness that can occur on a Galveston Deep Sea Charter of Jetty Fishing Trip.  In these calm back lakes and bayous, redfish, flounder and speckled trout are on the hit list and more times than not fall prey to a live shrimp under a poppin cork.  These peaceful, secluded trips are a great place to get away from the crowds and enjoy a tranquil morning or afternoon on the water.

Galveston Fishing Look Ahead

Now that the kids are back to school, seasons will be changing – Galveston Fishing will be heating up.  From Giant Bull Reds along the jettys, hunting flounder under the blanket of night, or chasing reds, specks and flounder in the shallow back lakes and bayous – Fall fishing in Galveston is tough to beat!

Galveston Redfish

September marks the month of the Famous Galveston Bull Redfish Run.  Yes, this is the month that it is not uncommon to hook into over 40 monster Bull Reds in a 5 hour Galveston Fishing Charter.  Talk about getting a work our – Skip the gym and get on our boat for an upper body workout that is sure to be much more exciting!  We prefer to catch and release these Giant Bull Reds for they are the breeding stock of our fishery.  These enormous fish can be upwards of 35 years old and are not as great table fare as their younger offspring which are also abundunt during the month of September thru October along the Galveston Jetties.

The back lakes and bayou are not only a great place to get away from the crowds all year long – Fall months are the absolute best times to be in the shallows targeting redfish and flounder.  If you are looking for a nice, peaceful, fishing charter with absolutely no risk of seasickness – book a Galveston Bay and Marsh Fishing Trip this Fall.

Not only is the fishing superb – the wildlife that call the marsh home during the fall and winter make this a great adventure just with the majesty of the views.  Geese, Ducks, Sandhill Cranes, Alligators and many others make this trip such a great experience.

Galveston Flounder

Our absolute most popular Galveston Fishing Charter during the fall months is by far a Galveston Flounder Gigging Adventure.  We have the boats to get you out there and hunt the shallow Galveston Bay flats under the blanket of night for the elusive Southern flounder.  A night of flounder gigging combines a little bit of hunting with a little bit of fishing, and together our customers have a time of their lives and keep coming back for more.  In our custom rigged flounder gigging boats, we will bring you to the flounder grounds then ease thru the flats with our air fans and hunt for the elusive flounder.  Kids, Families, Corporate Entertainment… This trip is always a hit!  www.galvestonfloundergigging.com
