With so many attractions, history, outdoor activities, and year round gorgeous weather - it is no wonder Galveston Island is a top vacation destination in Texas.
For a little history on this 27 mile long island and only 3 miles at its widest point - we take you back to the days when the Akosia and Karankawa Indians roamed the sand beaches of the Gulf and salt grasses of the bay. These Natives would fish the bays with spears, nets and many other means to provide the tribe some amazing feasts. In 1528 the first Europeans landed here and Galveston Island and the City of Galveston did not receive their names until 1786 by a Spanish Colonial Governor named Jose de Evia. Fast forward a hundred years or so, and Galveston Island had become the largest city in Texas, with the most active port West of New Orleans. With such an amazing history and spectacular resources, it is no wonder the vibrant barrier island only a mile from the mainland is home of some of the best fishing, attractions, cruises, festivals and down right fun beaches and scenic views.
One of the most attractive activities to do while visiting Galveston Island is the same reason the Native Indians called the barrier island home - Fishing. There is such a vast variety of species that enter the bays of Galveston from the Gulf of Mexico. Depending upon the time of year, the variety of fish we target changes. Many species of fish enter our bay systems to spawn each year. Galveston Bay is a nursery to the millions of hatchlings each year. In these bays these fish will grow until matured and the cycle begins once more. Just a few of the species of fish that call Galveston home can be found here.
Here at Fishing Galveston Tx we offer many different trips that allow our customers to experience every type of fishing Galveston has to offer.
