Water temps have continued to rise, reaching the mid 70s this week – and we are seeing the effects here in Galveston Texas. Water clarity has been very good along the jetties and bait fish are very prevalent. Our Galveston Bay Fishing Guides are having some amazing success with many different species of fish here in Galveston.
The sheepshead are still thick, and I am certain we are on the tail end of the spawn. As this happens – we will begin seeing more speckled trout take their place.
Big Drum have actually been biting better this past week, and hope it continues into the weekend for the 18th Annual Turning Point Drum Tournament for the Physically Challenged. Each year we support this event and provide a couple of our boats and Captains for this amazing tournament. Last year we had Stephen and he placed well in the youth division and we had a great time.
The major changes we have seen in the past week is Spanish Mackeral showing up as well as some Ling in shore as well. There were a couple small ling reported circling a boat yesterday. I am pretty certain we had one hooked…. but we will never know – Some fish just arent meant to be caught! Also, some very large sharks are already showing up along the jetties, as some of our sheepshead had fresh wounds from something VERY LARGE!
The redfish are still thick along the rocks and we are also catching more speckled trout. Fishing here in Galveston Texas will continue to get better and we anticipate some great summer fishing this year if our spring success is an indication of what is to come. We are anticipating another great summer and we are looking forward to our Galveston Family Friendly Fishing Charters.
Our Galveston Offshore Fishing Charters are beginning to book up for June, yet we do still have some availability. Red Snapper season will open June 1 and we will be out there on the Blue Water after them!
