Galveston Fall Fishing Report – Redfish & Flounder Time

Galveston Fishing Reports

Mother Nature has finally decided that its time to cool off here in Galveston, Texas – and the Fishing is Spectacular.  With the passage of each cool front the Galveston Fishing Report gets better with each day.  As the water temperatures continue to slowly fall, we are already beginning to see many of the ‘bait stealers’ dessert our bays and passes to find warmer and deeper water.  This is a very good factor for us which allows us to more efficiently catch the fish that are sought after.  Live Shrimp, Fresh Shad, Live and fresh dead mullet as well as live piggy perch are the baits of choice right now here in Galveston, Texas.

Galveston Fishing Reports

This past week Captain Greg had Chad, Michelle and their daughter Katie from Minnesota on a half day Galveston Fishing Charter.  It was an absolutely amazing day of fishing, with perfect conditions.  Chad and family kept count of all of the species of fish they caught.  A total of nine different species!  Three different shark species, trout, redfish, sheepshead, spanish mackerel, black drum, and an angel fish!  It was a great day on the water with great Northern folks!  Live shrimp and fresh shad were the baits of choice for Chad and family.

Michael booked a corporate trip with us and spent a full day on the water with Captain Greg.  Michael and crew caught redfish, trout, flounder, sheepshead, and many, many sharks!  Baits of choice were fresh shad, and live shrimp.  It was a great day on the Galveston Jetties as well as fishing a ship wreck that holds good numbers of redfish during October and November.

Galveston Flounder Gigging

Our Galveston Flounder Gigging Trips have been hit or miss lately with Mother Nature being her typical self. Mike and his crew nailed this Giant Flounder this week along with 19 other nice flounder. When the winds are lite and we can target mid bay reefs – we are gigging some Monster Flounder here in Galveston.  When the combination of high tide and high winds come together – it makes Galveston Flounder Gigging tough.  We need one good cold front with high north winds to push the water out, dropping the tides, clearing the waters, and lowering the water temps to really get the flounder on the move.
