We are on the last stretch for the 2014 year, and we are finishing up with some awesome fishing and flounder gigging here on Galveston Bay. December ranks up there as one of my absolute favorite months to be a Galveston Fishing Guide. No matter which inshore fishing trip you choose for this month, you are going to catch or gig fish. The past week has been great for fishing the backlakes and bayous for nice slot redfish and some stud speckled trout. Some very strong tides in the afternoon has made our afternoon trips very productive. Limts to near limits for redfish, and a good number of specks and flounder to top it off has made for some very fun trips lately. Our main bait of choice has been live mullet.
The jetty trips have been very productive for flounder, bull reds and speckled trout. The flounder run has started and limits of flounder have been easy to come by. The bull reds and some big speckled trout as well as sheepshead are beginning to show up and make for some great bonus fish to go with the limits of flounder.
December 1 marked the re-opening of the flounder gigging and we have gigged some monsters already. Once we get another strong push of cold air, it will get even better as more flounder will push out of the bayous and marshes and begin their journey to deep water. If you have never experienced the thrill of Galveston Flounder Gigging – give us a call. It is such a great sport for adults and children. Fun by everyone! Check out some of our videos here.
