Galveston has become the most popular Family Spring Break Destination in Texas, and for good reason.  Water temperatures begin to rise the end of February, and this signals lots of great things to occur every year.  So many great fishing opportunities happen during March and April.  One of the most popular fish to target during this time are BaySnapper – aka Sheepshead.  These fish create great fish catching action no matter your skill level.  With a little instruction from our professional Galveston Fishing Guides – beginners to experts will be bowed up on some of the finest tasting fish in the bays.  During March and April these fish migrate from the Gulf of Mexico to the passes that connect the bays to the Gulf where they perform their annual spawn.  It is not uncommon to catch fish that weigh in the double digits during Spring Break in Galveston. 

Another amazing fish to catch during your Spring Break Vacation in Galveston is Giant Black Drum which are also performing their annual spawn.  These monster size fish are catch – photo and release.  Black Drum are sure to test your fish catching endurance as these fish will pull hard until they can’t pull anymore!  Black drum are great fun for anglers to experience an extreme battle on the same gear that we use to catch the big offshore fish of the Gulf. 

While all of the fish catching action for the BaySnapper and Black Drum are in high gear – we will also be catching nice numbers of redfish, speckled trout and flounder.  The spring flounder run will be happening as these flat fish make their way back from the Gulf after their fall/winter spawn.  Many people pay so much attention to the Fall flounder run and completely forget about the return these fish make to Galveston Bay each spring.
