Spent the evening with a very important little lady yesterday afternoon – my daughter, Kylie Jo. Kylie is 11 years old, and has been spending days and nights on Galveston Bay with me since she was a toddler. Ever since she was a very young age, she has always appreciated Mother Natures Beauty. From sunrises to sunsets to watching the big harvest moon in October rise over Galveston Bay – she is like her Daddy and is amazed at the beauty each time we watch the sunset together. Dad’s that have not experienced a day on the water with their son or daughter is missing a chance to experience the greatness that our great state of Texas and the Coast has to offer. We started out by catching a couple dozen finger mullet to try to hook into a redfish or two. We did get a little bit of a late start (she had school), so by the time we caught bait and set our lines up, we only had 30 minutes to fish before the sun set and we started flounder gigging. We did hook into a nice redfish, but only to have it come unbuttoned before we could get it in the boat. We then watched a beautiful sunset together, turned on the flounder gigging lights, and started hunting Galveston Flounder. We gigged a few Flounder in a short amount of time. We had to get back home so she could get some rest for school today. It was a great evening, and one that I will remember for many, many years – and I am sure she will too. Not that we loaded the cooler up with piles of fish – but we saw the sun set, and the moon rise. The same sun that my Dad and I would watch set. The same moon that my Dad and I would stare at in amazement. Good times.
