Galveston Fishing Report – Red October

Written by Captain Greg Verm

Current Water Temperatures:

Eagle Point:  79.9 F

Galveston Causeway:  81.3 F

Galveston North Jetty:  78.8 F

San Luis Pass:  80.2F

This October has been a month of weather swings, temperature swings, hurricanes, and tropical storms… but one thing is for certain – the red fish bite has been great!  The Galveston beachfront/jetties and the back lakes and bays are holding good numbers of red fish.  The month started off like we were going to get an early fall, but temperatures didn’t stay down for long.  Water temperatures were getting down into the low 70’s but now have risen back into the lower 80’s during mid day hours.  As we do have some cold air headed down – we should see temperatures fall soon.  This is a quick report, I just wanted to share some recent catches from our Galveston Fishing Charters.  Also, you can follow us and get day to day catches up dates on our Instagram or Facebook pages.
