November is here and the fishing has been very good here on Galveston Bay. We are catching good numbers of Redfish, Speckled Trout and flounder. The water temps have still been in the 70’s – but should be dropping each day as the days are getting shorter as well as the passage of each cool front.
The Back Lakes and Bays are producing good numbers of Redfish and Speckled trout as well as a few flounder mixed in. The flounder have not really made their presence known as far as the greatly anticipated “Flounder Run” has not kicked off yet. That could change any day now as there are cooler days ahead.
The redfish that have made their way to our cleaning tables from the bayous and back lakes this past week have been full of 2 to 3 inch shrimp. This means the best fishing is yet to come! Once the water temps drop, north wind will drain the bayous and backlakes – the shrimp and small shad will be forced to the open bays and we will be finding birds working more consistently than as of late. We will keep our eyes peeled for flocks of seagulls that are ‘working’ the water. Usually there will be speckled trout and redfish not far away.
The Galveston Fishing Forecast is very good. Cooler temperature are sure to come, lowering the water temps of the Bays of Galveston – which means GREAT FISHING! December will be upon us, and Galveston Flounder Gigging is sure to be on fire again this Season. I anticipate many large flounder this year. Check out our past reports of what flounder gigging is like during December.
Fishing is great here on Galveston Bay. Give us a call to get in on the action. Our November price special is still in effect and this is a spectacular time to be on the water and catch some fish.
