September Flounder and Bull Reds in Galveston

Well, August is behind us.  Kids are back in school.  Dove season has opened.  Football season is here….. and Galveston Flounder Gigging, and Giant Bull Red Fishing is heating up!  What a great time of year to live on the Texas Coast.  The flounder gigging in Galveston is great when the conditions are right.  Some very, very big flounder are being gigged.  We are finding our fish on a combination of sand and oyster shell.  The major factor that we are facing is the wind and the low tides that dirty up the water.  When we have a large tidal change – going out, allot of times the mud will drop out of the marshes and bayous, staining our gigging areas.  The areas will usually clear up when the tide comes back in, but the waiting game that we have to do is sometimes a little more than we want.

We have great fun hunting the Galveston Bay floor for the elusive Flounder.  Along with the flounder – we will see all sorts of marine life.  Stingrays, blue crabs, stone crabs, mullet, shrimp, redfish, and many other saltwater species that call Galveston Bay home.

If you want to catch Giant Galveston Bull Reds now is the time as well.  These Giant Bull Reds are tremendous fighters, and are being caught along our Galveston Jetties on fresh shad and fresh mullet.  It is not uncommon to hook up with 20 to 30 of these giants on a half day fishing charter.  As well as the Giant Bull Reds, the better eating slot reds are being caught as well on live shrimp and croakers.

If you would like to get in on a Galveston Flounder Gigging Trip, a Galveston Jetty trip for Bull Reds, or even a Fish-Gig Combo – Give us a call and get in on some of the action!
